Typically, the Christmas season is a whirlwind. We get caught up with the lights, familiar music, the rush of the crowds, and the hope that all our desires will be met on Christmas morning. But the promise of ultimate satisfaction turns out to be untrue. But this year, things are different. And perhaps this year, more than any year before, our hearts are longing for a bit more. In the loniliness, uncertainty, anxiety, and chaos of 2020, there’s space for a different kind of Advent.
